Summer Camps

Come beat the heat—and summer brain drain!

Our week-long summer camp experiences are about exploring everything the Museum has to offer. Campers can engage in a wide variety of interdisciplinary activities bridging science, art and engineering. Don't miss out—this summer is going to be a blast!

  • Monday–Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
    Tinker Tots Half-Day: 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
  • One-week sessions available between the weeks of June 24 and August 12, 2024.
  • $400 per camper ($360 for Griffin MSI members)
    Tinker Tots Half-Day: $300 per camper ($270 for Griffin MSI members)
  • After Camp (3–4 p.m.) available: +$100 per camper
  • Snack and beverage provided. Full-day campers will need to bring a lunch.

Scholarships for camp fees are available for students and their families who demonstrate financial need. Contact us for details.

Giving a camp as a gift? You can give the young scientist an Griffin MSI Gift Card in the amount of the camp. Their parent or guardian can later redeem the card, select the camp, and register the camper.

Tinker Tots (K–3)

Engage in hands-on Maker activities that focus on motor skills and color and shape recognition. Each week allows knowledge to build from prior camps, and activities align with NAEYC standards. Full-day camps for grades 2-3; half-day camps for grades K-1.

  • Paper Engineers

    Paper Engineers
    Full-day (grades 2-3): 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
    Half-day (grades K-1): 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
    Unfold the wonder that is the art of paper engineering! From creating origami satellites to building urban landscapes, paper can solve it all! Learn how engineers can use the flimsiest of materials to create solid solutions.

  • Cardboard Wunderkinds

    Cardboard Wunderkinds
    Full-day (grades 2-3): 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
    Half-day (grades K-1): 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

    Come join us in our Wanger Family Fab Lab and invent tools and machines with one of the most sustainable materials in the world… cardboard! Use our laser cutters to come up with amazing cardboard creations!

  • Designers Toolbox

    Designers Toolbox
    Full-day (grades 2-3): 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
    Half-day (grades K-1): 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

    Open up your toolbox and see what you can create using tools from our Wanger Family Fab Lab! Use your toolbox to come up with fun-filled creations for all to enjoy! See what innovations you can create using our 3D printers and laser cutters.

  • Fiber Arts

    Fiber Arts
    Full-day (grades 2-3): 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

    Come learn the fundamentals of sewing and leave with a custom design made by the greatest artist in the world… YOU! See how you can create your own interactive art using tools and techniques from our Wanger Family Fab Lab.

Experience our exhibits through hands-on projects that give you an exclusive and unique perspective. For grades 3–5.

    For youth in grades 3 through 5
    Learn how we create interactive and engaging exhibits at Griffin MSI, as well as the content that brings an exhibit to life! Get the real VIP experience and go behind the scenes of some of our most iconic creations. Learn how to engage audiences by connecting them to content that matters to you!

    From blasting off into the unknown to landing back on solid ground, learn how humans live and work in outer space. Engage with hands-on activities to complete your mission! Discover how human life can survive the elements of outer space and other planets.

    Spycraft Workshop
    For youth in grades 3 through 5
    Discover the world of iconic international people of mystery through behind-the-scenes tours of some of our popular exhibits! Engage with hands-on STEAM activities to learn how spy gadgets are made. From cars to clothes, learn how technology has evolved in spycraft.

Experience a digital studio full of STEAM learning! Work on new projects each week as you build your Maker skills! For grades 4–6.

  • Design Studio

    Design Studio
    For youth in grades 4 through 6.
    Get your gears turning! Learn how to solve everyday problems by designing unique solutions. Within our Wanger Family Fab Lab’s Design Studio, using prototypes made from a variety of materials and technologies you will get to express your creativity and imagination and see your ideas take shape into your own design solutions.

    Let’s get moving with some cardboard mechatronics! Whether building a bike, train or robot, these hands-on systems developed in our Wanger Family Fab Lab will help you go the distance! Learn to use cardboard, circuits and sensors to engineer amazing machines!

    From patterns in nature here on Earth to those within our solar system, explore the beauty of math and composition embedded within environments that are all around us! Engage in hands-on STEAM activities to find out how we use—and are affected by—patterns in our daily lives.
