- Increase interest in science/medical sciences.
- Increase awareness of and interest in medical careers.
- Promote the scientific process of problem solving (evidence-based analysis).
- Provide context for community health issues.
Objectives
- Students will formulate a medical hypothesis based on basic health indicators.
- Students will test their hypotheses through a series of medical tests and analysis of patient health information.
- Students will interpret test results and vitals obtained to form a diagnosis of the patient’s illness.
- Students will use test results, patient history, and vitals obtained as evidence to argue in support their diagnosis (Classroom Mode).
- Students will perform and record data from health care simulation tests routinely used during clinical examinations.
- Students will compare and contrast pathologies (differential diagnosis).
- Students will objectively collect and record data.
- Students will describe the interconnected components of at least one human biological system.
- Students will be able to recall basic information about the patient after careful review of the patient chart.
- Students will name 3 medical careers related to the treatment of patients.
- Students will name 4 responsibilities/tasks of medical professionals treating a patient.
