half-day workshop for educators

Field Trip Flip

A group of kids and chaperones lean on a railing while staring up at a large globe.

Field Trip Flip is a workshop challenging educators to “flip the script” on field trips.

The field trip is a rite of passage for students, but it can also be an opportunity for teachers to connect their instruction to a shared experience that will enrich a unit of instruction.

About the workshop

This half-day workshop allows participants to:

  • Explore how to use a cultural center (like Griffin MSI) as a phenomenon to spark learning and curiosity in your students at the start of instruction.
  • Generate ideas for how to connect learning opportunities to a shared student experience or phenomenon.

This workshop is designed for any K-12th grade teacher — in any content area — who wants to learn how to utilize Griffin MSI or any cultural center near you in a more meaningful way to foster student learning. Whether you already bring your students to Griffin MSI or want to learn how to make your field trips more impactful, the Field Trip Flip workshop will help you learn how to utilize any cultural center as a shared learning experience that is tied to your curriculum and sparks learning and curiosity. Field trips are always fun. Learn how to make yours the start of an exciting learning cycle.

This four-hour workshop is conducted at the Griffin Museum of Science and Industry and includes parking and continuing education hours for Illinois educators.

Cost

$1250 for up to 30 educators.
