Professional Development

half-day workshop for educators

Activate the 4C's

Are you an education professional? Take our survey and tell us about your professional learning needs.

A workshop for educators to explore communication, collaboration, creativity and critical thinking.

Twenty-first-century skills are widely accepted as critical for students' readiness for college and careers, but what does it look like when they’re integrated into the learning environment?

By combining one of our most popular student experiences, the Innovation Studio, with professional learning, educators are invited to experience and reflect on their use of communication, collaboration, creativity and critical thinking – the 4C's of 21st-century learning – in an authentic learning environment.

About the workshop

This half-day workshop is designed for PK-12th grade educators of any content, specialists, and administrators who seek to increase their students' development of and engagement in 4C skills.

This workshop will offer participants the opportunity to take the perspective of a student while engaging in lesson experiences that apply 4C skills, including a hands-on design challenge. Participants will also collaborate to adapt lessons to integrate and emphasize 4C skills, as well as reflect and plan on how they will develop and implement these skills within their context.

This four-hour workshop is conducted at the Griffin Museum of Science and Industry and includes parking and continuing education hours for Illinois educators.
