Life in the Serengeti happens on an unmatched scale.
The Serengeti ecosystem in Tanzania and Kenya is home to most of Africa’s iconic animals and one of nature’s most spectacular events — the annual migration of nearly two million wildebeest. Experience it through the eyes of the youngest members of the animal cast, as they imitate their parents and prepare to embark on their life’s journeys. Serengeti: A Journey to the Heart of Africa is an immersive giant-screen film about how nature works in one of the world’s greatest ecosystems.
Serengeti opens in the Giant Dome Theater on Wednesday, March 19. It is not included in Museum Entry, and requires adding a separate timed-entry ticket.
The Serengeti Educators Guide offers experiential learning opportunities that support students before and after watching the film, including outdoor activities, scientific experiments, large group simulations and creative practices in art or drama. Each lesson connects to the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), with themes of wildlife families (Grade K-1), habitats and seasons (Grade 2-3), interconnection of body and Earth (Grade 4-5) and resource use in the Serengeti (Grade 6-8).
