Fab Lab Tours

Friday, June 17 and Monday - Thursday, June 20-23
Every 30 minutes from 10 a.m. to noon.

Get a sneak peek into the Museum’s digital fabrication laboratory! Tours will include demonstrations of Fab Lab equipment and projects, and an introduction to the global Fab Lab Network.

Tours last 20 minutes and capacity is limited to 30 people. Free with Museum Entry. All ages (children under 13 must be accompanied by a chaperone.)

Vinyl Cutting Workshop

Friday - Saturday, June 17-18 and Monday - Thursday, June 20-23
4:30 p.m. and 5 p.m.

To celebrate the National Week of Making, the afternoon Vinyl Cutting workshop will feature a collaborative project across the week. Guest will create palm-sized vinyl silhouettes of themselves – one to take home and one added to a group collage in the lab.

Ages 6 and older. Children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by a ticketed chaperone. Additional Fab Lab ticket required.

Meet a Maker and Make an iPad Stand! Alex Truesdell, MacArthur Fellow, Executive Director and Founder, Adaptive Design Association

Saturday, June 18 at 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.

MacArthur Fellow Truesdell will share her career experiences as a maker/fabricator and facilitate a making activity based on her work in creating low-tech, affordable tools and furniture for children of all abilities.

Sessions last 30 minutes. Free with Museum Entry. Capacity limited to 25 people per session on a first-come, first-served basis.

Build a Multicolor Light Emitting Circuit

Monday - Tuesday, June 20-21 and Thursday, June 23
at 3 p.m.

NEW! This workshop features an electronics project that uses laser-cut parts to produce a seven-color, light-emitting circuit! Learn the basics of electronic circuitry as well as the physics light frequencies.

Ages 6 and older. Children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by a ticketed chaperone. Additional Fab Lab ticket required.

Build an Electronic Torch

Wednesday, June 22 at 1:45 p.m., 2:15 p.m., 3 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Construct a simple colorful paper electronic torch project that actually lights up during free 20-minute workshops! 

Ages 6 and older. Children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by a chaperone (18+). Free with Museum Entry. Capacity limited to 20 people per session on a first-come, first-served basis.
