About the Program
Our long-running Black Creativity program celebrates the history of Black innovation while championing opportunities for today’s youth to explore careers in science, technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics.
Since 1970, Black Creativity has been honoring the achievements of Black creatives and innovators in STE(A)M through dynamic exhibits, impactful educational initiatives and inspiring events. Initially called Black Esthetics, the early years captured the cultural pride among African Americans at the time. The centerpiece of the program — the Juried Art Exhibition — showcases Black artists and explores the intersection between art, science and creativity. Black Creativity’s longevity underscores the program’s impact in bridging arts, science and community and its indelible mark on Chicago history.
Our programming has something for everyone, from students to Museum visitors to art collectors.
The 2025 Black Creativity Program is sponsored by The Allstate Insurance Company and Ardmore Roderick.
