Science Labs are Going Green, With Help From Exelon Griffin MSI is proud to partner with Exelon to provide a special series of grants focusing on science learning for high school students. The Green Lab Grant program is designed to encourage new thinking about our environment by supporting the creation or modernization of interactive spaces for STEM-related activities. Schools, charter schools and other nonprofits in Delaware, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and the District of Columbia are encouraged to apply for this grant, which focuses on issues related to the current climate emergency. We’re confident that recipients will promote problem-solving and environmental learning opportunities in areas where science funding has traditionally been lacking. |

When the School Day Ends, We Help the Learning Continue Students are revving up for a new school year, but Griffin MSI is working to ensure that there’s as much learning taking place out of the classroom. Thanks to sponsors like BP, our network of Science Minors Clubs is reaching across the greater Chicago area to deliver fun learning activities in science, technology, engineering and medicine, serving upwards of 9,500 young people every year. We also have many programs to encourage teens to discover new interests in science and technology, explore STEM subjects through hands-on activities, develop public speaking and leadership skills, and prepare for college and careers. Not to mention, we have a host of online games and hands-on science activities, events to introduce kids to potential careers in STEM fields and making opportunities in our Wanger Family Fab Lab. When the school day ends, Griffin MSI is here to keep the science fun going strong. |
Summer Brain Games 2021 in the Books Science came to neighborhoods through Chicago in the summer of 2021, thanks to the return of Summer Brain Games. 3,600 special kits created by Griffin MSI educators were available for pickup at 25 Chicago Public Library locations. Each kit included all the supplies needed to conduct three at-home science experiments, with instructions provided in both English and Spanish. Summer Brain Games was made possible thanks to the support of the CREATE Program / 75th Street Corridor Improvement Project and our friends at Wintrust. It’s all part of Griffin MSI’s ongoing commitment to encouraging science learning for young people wherever they may be. |
