Under New Management! We are pleased to introduce Griffin MSI’s new president and CEO, Chevy Humphrey. Ms. Humphrey is a recognized national and international leader in the museum field. Prior to joining Griffin MSI, she served as CEO of the Phoenix-based Arizona Science Center for 15 years. Humphrey is currently Chair of the Board of the American Alliance of Museums and previously served as Chair of the Board of the Association of Science and Technology Centers. At Griffin MSI she succeeds David Mosena, who retired after leading the Museum for 23 years. We’re thrilled to have her on board and glad to give her a chance to say hello to you. |

Black Creativity 2021 We always enjoy kicking off the year with our celebration of African-American creativity and achievement in science and the arts. But in 2021, we’re spreading out the festivities well into the spring and summer with exciting exhibits, activities and more! Here’s a sneak peek of what’s in store: Black Creativity Jr. Science and Art Cafes SELECT JANUARY & FEBRUARY DATES School and community groups can reserve interactive learning sessions with an African-American scientist, engineer or artist, discovering the life paths that can lead to great career opportunities. Black Creativity Juried Art Exhibition APRIL 7 – JULY 5, 2021 For over half a century, the Griffin Museum of Science and Industry has hosted the nation’s premier exhibition of African-American art. In addition to presenting more than 100 works of art within our walls, this year’s selections will also be available in an online gallery showcasing professional and emerging Black artists from around the world. Innovator Gallery APRIL 7 – JULY 5, 2021 Our yearly recognition of some of the most creative and successful creators from the Chicago area features achievers in fields from computer programming to architecture, from architecture to performance. We will also feature additional video content available on Griffin MSI’s website. Black Creativity: Art and Activism APRIL 7 – JULY 5, 2021 This special exhibit will showcase social impact art created during the recent Black Lives Matter protests and will highlight commissioned work by muralist Jamiah Calvin and local teen artists responding to social unrest and the COVID-19 pandemic.
