Take Flight Is Cleared to Land

A beloved Griffin MSI icon returns, when Take Flight re-opens to the public on May 13. This exhibit has been fully reimagined to give guests a unique and in-depth look at the science of powered flight, the inner workings of the aviation industry and the cool history of jet-age travel. As ever, the centerpiece of our United Airlines Boeing 727 jetliner, captured in flight on our east balcony. The plane has been completely redesigned inside from nose to tail, including a re-creation of a 1960s-era cabin and an up-close look at the cockpit. Come experience the wonder of air travel right here at Griffin MSI.

Griffin MSI’s annual Inventive Genius Lecture returns online, with a look at two amazing advancements in space exploration being spearheaded by the imaginative scientists in the NASA Innovative Advanced Concepts (NIAC) program. This year’s lecture features two cutting-edge proposals for learning more about our solar system and beyond:

• Lunar Crater Radio Telescope—What better place to build the largest-ever filled-aperture radio telescope than on the far side of the Moon? The size and location could give us unprecedented visions of our galaxy and beyond.
• Venus Landsailing Rover—Extreme sports go interplanetary as we harness the Venusian winds to propel a robotic explorer across the planet’s hot plains. This agile rover could answer important questions about one of the most mysterious worlds in our solar system.
