007 Science: Inventing the World of James Bond Extended at Griffin Museum of Science and Industry

CHICAGO — Due to popular demand, the Griffin Museum of Science and Industry is thrilled to announce the extension of 007 Science: Inventing the World of James Bond. The exhibit will now run through Spring 2025, giving even more visitors the chance to go behind the scenes to learn how the Bond production teams harness real-world science to craft 007’s on-screen adventures.

007 Science is the first-ever official exhibition to focus on the science and technology behind the world's longest-running movie franchise. Since its debut on March 7, 2024, the exhibit has attracted visitors from around the world to explore over 90 artifacts and 13 vehicles from the film series, including Bond’s many iconic Aston Martins, Q Boat, jetpack suit and signature gadgets that ensured each mission was a success.

The exhibit’s extension includes some exciting additions such as:

  • New vehicle: Joining the collection is the Citroën 2VC from For Your Eyes Only (1981), which was constructed with a platform for a camera to get close ups of Roger Moore and Carole Bouquet during an infamous car chase scene.
  • New artifacts: A new installation will highlight artifacts used by Lashana Lynch in No Time to Die (2021) including her tactical harness with cable gun and Omega Seamaster 300M watch. Also on display is the Paravane towed behind the villain's boat in For Your Eyes Only (1981).
  • New merchandise: The 007 Science gift shop will debut a new collection of merchandise, including Christmas ornaments and other items that would make the perfect holiday gift for 007 fan in your life.

“The excitement from visitors has been truly remarkable. With the new additions, including fresh artifacts, we’re excited to provide an even deeper dive into the science and innovation that have made James Bond a cinematic icon,” said Kathleen McCarthy, director of collections and head curator at the Griffin Museum of Science and Industry.

007 Science explores the technology, engineering and innovation behind Bond’s world and provides visitors with a greater understanding of the scientific breakthroughs that came about from these films. The first-of-its-kind exhibit dives into the fascinating intersection of science and filmmaking, which often flies under the radar when watching your favorite spy in action.

The exhibition is produced in partnership with EON Productions, the creators of James Bond films. 007 Science is presented by Bank of America, powered by CDW and furnished by Grainger. DHL is the Official Logistics Partner of 007 Science. It is made possible by generous contributions from the Ian Fleming® Foundation and the International Spy Museum, as well as the University of Buffalo, DARPA, University of Pennsylvania and Gravity Industries.
