Correct! This is an Armored Car.
This armored car dates back to 1898 and was used by cadets at the Northwestern Military Academy as part of their training. This Griffin MSI classic is more of an "armed" car than the armored cars we see today, however. It didn't provide significant protection for riders against attack, but it was one of the first of its kind and attracted admirers when it was featured in a 1901 issue of Horseless Age magazine.
