Museum of Science and Industry

History of the Great Train Story
One of the smallest complete railroad systems, the Museum of Science and Industry's original model railroad was the largest of its kind in the world when it opened in 1941.
How the Exhibit was Created
It took 40 people more than12 months to build The Great Train Story. The project team included designers, painters, architects, copywriters, project managers and many others—all bringing their talents together.
Eye Spy
One of the most special things about The Great Train Story is its amazing detail. From a friends frolicking on the beach, to an apple grove, to a team of cub scouts having a "bear" encounter—can you find them all?
